SOLO ADVANCED WILDERNESS FIRST AID (AWFA)

Advanced Wilderness First Aid  allows you to build on your existing knowledge and experience.  AWFA focuses on field immersive training and improvisation.  Students learn how to build litters and conduct evacuations in the wilderness.

WHO IS THE AWFA FOR?
The AWFA is the perfect course for the outdoor enthusiast or trip leader who wants an advanced level of first aid training for short/ medium length trips with family, friends, and outdoor groups. It also meets the ACA guidelines.

WHAT IS TAUGHT?
The Advanced Wilderness First Aid course goes into greater depth than the WFA on the basic first aid subjects. The course emphasizes leadership skills and presents new skills such as litter packaging and traction splinting. The AWFA in its runs four days.

IS THERE AN EXAM?
Yes, there is ongoing evaluation of practical skills, and there is a written assessment at the end of the course.

DO I GET CERTIFIED?
Yes. You will receive a SOLO Advanced Wilderness First Aid certification, which is good for 2 years.

DOES THE AWFA COUNT AS CONTINUING EDUCATION?
The Advanced Wilderness First Aid may earn continuing ed credits (depending on the specific requirements of the institution) and is approved for re-certifying SOLO’s Wilderness First Responder program.
